| BOARD OF DIRECTORS NEWS |
The past year has been one of challenge and opportunity for the community and the Board of Directors. Many of these issues will be discussed by all our active committees including our newest Community Watch Committee. Some of the issues during the past year include:
- Due to diligent planning by your Board there will be no dues increase for 2009.
- During the past year the clubhouse was vandalized once and a piece of playground equipment was also vandalized (the Pelican spring toy) at a different time.
- The clubhouse is closed this month (March) to have some remodeling completed. The kitchen area and carpeting will be replaced, several doors replaced (one damaged by vandalism), gutters replaced, interior painting, floor repairs, new ceiling fans, and several other minor improvements made.
- Solutions are still being sought for the tennis courts. Their locations and sub-soil conditions make any solution both expensive and temporary.
- Sunrise Assisted Living is scheduled to open sometime this spring. Please feel free to drop by and visit our newest neighbors.
- Our annual meeting is scheduled for April 23rd at 7:30pm in the newly remodeled clubhouse. Come by and get involved. There are opportunities for all kinds of volunteer service in our own community.

New Volunteers Needed: Several Members are Stepping Down
As you may know, the Oxxford Hunt Recreation Committee (OHRC) has been an established committee since 1985 when the neighborhood was completed and the by-laws were formed. The committee was started to help the Board of Directors and the management company, Omega, maintain the pool, clubhouse, playground and tennis courts. We also arrange for entertainment and social activities throughout the year.
The committee members that are currently in place have served for many years. Most of the members’ own children have progressively “aged out” of some social activities that we plan and volunteer for. However, having young children is by no means a prerequisite for being a member! The committee has always solicited new members at the annual homeowner’s association meeting and in the Bugle. Our solicitations have gone largely unanswered.
Currently no social calendar has been set for 2009. As it stands now there are no pool parties, holiday parties, community yard sale or Blood Drive scheduled. However, it is not too late for events to be planned for 2009. All it takes are a few phone calls and a few volunteers! The existing committee members will be happy to meet with new members to help in any way we can.
Serving on the committee is fun, easy, and requires only a one to three hour monthly time commitment. Our regular meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, at 8:00pm, at the clubhouse. The meeting time and place can certainly be changed to accommodate new members. If you have any questions or would like more information before you make a final decision, please feel free to call on any member. You are also welcomed to sit in on our next meeting to get a better feel for what we do. We really hope you will say “Yes” and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

| COMUNITY WATCH NEWS |
The Oxxford Hunt Community Watch meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:30pm at the clubhouse. The purpose of the Community Watch is to work together with the Cary Police Department to reduce and prevent crime in Oxxford Hunt. The Cary Police Department is providing us with tools and training to help keep our community safe. Check out the crime data map by going to http://www.townofcary.org/depts/pdhome.htm and clicking on the Crime Data link. Training for the Community Watch groups has included Gang Awareness and Crime Stoppers seminars. The Crime Stoppers program is completely anonymous (no caller id) and pays for leads that result in an arrest. The payment for a misdemeanor is from $100 - $500 and for a felony up to $2500. You do not have to appear in court. Call 226-2746.
We’ve had a good year in Oxxford Hunt and you can help keep the crime low. Please keep valuables in your house and not in your car and keep your car locked at all times. Larceny from motor vehicles (misdemeanor) has been our most prevalent crime. The other top crime in Cary is theft from garages (felony). Congratulations to Oxxford Hunt residents for keeping this crime from our neighborhood. Please report any crime in progress to 911.
All other suspicious activities should be reported to 469-4012. Having a police officer come down your street can prevent a potential crime. Recently, some neighborhoods in Cary have reported thefts during the day. If you are home during the day, be aware of any activity on your street that is out of the ordinary. According to the police department, thieves will check first to see if anyone is home. If you are alone and do not feel comfortable answering the door, don’t. If you do answer the door, ask the person for a business card, solicitation permit, and name. Call the police if the person is suspicious. To be added to the Community Watch email list, send your email address to
oxhcwatch@gmail.com. The plan for 2009 is to establish a Community Watch Yahoo Group for Oxxford Hunt. Members from this email list will be invited to join the group.
