Volunteers
Starter* |
|
|
DescriptionStarts each race with the use of either a horn or a
whistle. |
|

Clerk of Course |
|
|
Stands behind the blocks and makes sure all swimmers are
in their proper lane at the start of each race. |
|
|
|
Place Judge |
|
|
Stands to the side of the pool
and holds up the lane number of the swimmer who finished in the place he is
judging so the Recorder can see and note the results. For example,
if the 4th place swimmer was in Lane 6, the 4th Place
Judge would hold up 6 fingers for the Recorder. |
|
|
|
Timer |
|
|
Times the
swimmers from the start of their race until the end of their race and then
records the swimmer’s time on the “white” heat sheets. If applicable,
provides 1st or 2nd place times to the
Recorder. |
|
|
|
Recorder* |
|
|
Records the
places of the swimmers in the main events as indicated by the Place Judges.
Also records the times of the 1st
and 2nd place swimmers as provided by the Lane Timers. These
times are recorded on the “pink & blue” main event sheets and then given
to a Runner. |
|
|
|
Scorer |
|
|
Assigns points to each team based on the places of the swimmers in the main events as indicated on the “pink & blue” main event sheets. Also records DQ’s and adjusts the score accordingly. Also records 2 and 3 time winners of main events as well as any pool records which may have been broken. This information is then provided to the Announcer at the end of the meet. |

Runner* |
|
|
Takes the “pink & blue” main event sheets from the Clerk of Course and gives them to the Recorder. Also takes the completed “yellow” DQ sheets from the Stroke & Turn Judges and the recorded “pink & blue” main event sheets from the Recorder to the Scorers. |

|
|
Ribbon Writer |
|
|
Records the swimmers' names of the main events on the
ribbon they receive according to where they placed in the race. |
|
|
|
Ribbon Distributor* |
|
|
Passes out heat winner and participation ribbons to all
swimmers 10 and under during heat races only. |
|
|
|
Stroke & Turn Judge |
|
|
Watches each
race and determines if each swimmer does the fundamental strokes properly and
touches the wall properly. Also makes sure there are no early starts in relay
races. If necessary, will complete the “yellow” DQ slips and hand them to a
Runner. MUST ATTEND TSA STROKE &
TURN CLINIC PRIOR TO SEASON. |

Announcer* |
|
|
Announces each race and calls the swimmers to the Clerk
of Course before their races. |
|
|
|
Kid Pusher |
|
|
Puts swimmers' numbers on each swimmer as swimmers
arrive (prior to warm-ups). Rounds up all swimmers and puts them in their
lane assignments before the start of each race. Sends the swimmers of each
race to the Clerk of Course. |

|
|
Concession Worker* |
|
|
Arrives
before the start of the swim meet and sets up the concession area. Sells
concessions during the swim meet and cleans up the concession area after the
meet. |

|

Committees
Awards(Board Representative:
Treasurer) |
|
|
Description1.
Orders all awards/gifts to be given to the
swimmers/coaches at the banquet. 2. Brings all awards to the banquet and arranges them for
presentation. 3. Makes sure any swimmers/coaches not at the banquet get their
award/gift. |

|
Banquet(Board Representative: Secretary) |
|
|
1.
Organizes the Banquet (place, food, volunteers, flyer) 2. Sets up and decorates the room for the banquet. 3. Cleans up after banquet. |
|
|
|
Communications(Board Representative: President) |
|
|
1.
After Registration, prepares the Parent Box with a
folder for each family on the swim team. Adds information to the folders as
needed throughout the swim season. 2. Writes a swim team newsletter and has it ready to publish
the Friday prior to each meet. 3. Emails a copy of the newsletter to those on the team’s
email list and puts a few copies in the Parent Box for those who do not have
email. |

Concessions(Board Representative: Vice President) |
|
|
1.
Inventory,
Purchases & Donations – keeps the stand stocked throughout the season. 2. Meets & Holidays – purchases, makes, or gets
volunteers to purchase/make specialty foods needed for Meets/Holidays and
makes sure the stand is properly setup before, staffed during, and cleaned
after each event. 3. Cleanliness & Organization – signs up for one or
more weeks during the season to make sure the stand remains clean and
organized by re-stocking items in the refrigerator, etc. as needed, wiping
down the counter tops, and sweeping the floor if needed. |

Fundraising(Board Representative: Treasurer) |
|
|
2. Works with the Concessions Committee to prepare/man the
concession stand during any special holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th)
events or “peak time” weekends/evenings at the pool. |
|
|
|
Meet Planning(Board Representative: TSA Reps) |
|
|
1. Helps set-up for a Home Meet (works with the Lifeguards
to put out kid pusher chairs, clerk of course chairs, lane lines, backstroke
flags, OXH Swim Team Sign, Starter, Announcer’s Console, etc.). 2. Helps clean up after a Home Meet (works with the
Lifeguards to ensure all garbage is put away, all chairs are returned to
their proper place, and that all equipment for the Meet stored ready for the
next meet). |

1. Organizes fun events or outings for the team (ex: Emerald
Pointe Water Park, Ice Cream Social, etc.) 2. Organizes the “after meet” social activities (ex: where
